EPRS OFFLINE SUNDAY, AUGUST 24th 8-9pm

EPRS customers.

The EPRS website will be offline the evening of Sunday, August 24, 2014 for scheduled maintenance to install upgrades to the system. Users will not be able to access the EPRS website between the hours of 8:00 - 9:00pm while the system is updated.

This maintenance includes the following upgrades:

1.       Paid Work Item History Summary report – This report was updated to allow for the retrieval of previously accepted projects.

2.       Create/Edit Payroll Data form – The project address incorrectly displayed the prime contractor’s address. This information was already available on the form with the payroll vendor. Therefore, this field has been removed from the form.

Thank you,

Installing Printers for Field Offices Inspector PCs & Laptops

I bring to your attention a solution for field inspectors interfacing with continually changing computer hardware. As these inspectors move from one office to another their PC’s must interface with different hardware such as contractor owed printers.

The administrative lock down on TxDOT PC’s prevents anyone without administrative privileges from installing the essential printer drivers to communicate with these printers. An IT professional with these privileges must perform the task. An extra burden for the field inspector is the fact that the hardware is in the field. Anyone assisting the inspector to install these drivers must travel to the field office.

If you have employees with a similar predicament please have them request a local group policy exemption and local user account. The local user account and the modified local group policy will allow a user of that account the option to install print drivers. The request should be submitted through TxDOTNow as a general request.

General Request ticket (not an incident)

·         Subject -  Need administrative right fix to add network printer

·         Body - I need to have my local group policy set to allow non-administrators to add network printer. Include the PC’s computer name (ex. FTW-715414-L).

·         Attention: CSD_Services were they should be able to process the request.

The server group may come up with a better method or distribution going forward, but for now this option offers an active solution. Please distribute this information among your field employees.

Thank you,

EPRS SERVER MAINTENANCE SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY, APRIL 13th

EPRS customers,

This is a reminder of the scheduled server maintenance for this Sunday, April 13th  (see details below).

This scheduled maintenance will include an update to the EPRS Injury and Incident (I&I) Submission Report webpage. The page’s content has been updated to display only applicable I&I projects. Projects let prior to and not affected by the I&I special specification have been scrubbed from the page. This will allow a user to more easily determine what projects have or have not complied with the monthly reporting requirement.

Future updates to this I&I Submission Report page will include hyperlinks back to each report’s detail and an adjustment to the I&I Data Entry page to mirror the content described above with the I&I Submission Report page modification.

Thank you,

RE: Poll question on CMISD website

I agree, since it cannot be filtered independently anyway.  I would like to see a field for “PRINCIPAL ITEM OF WORK”.  That is what a lot of our offices have been recording in the “little” General field.  Thanks.

Currently as you know there are two General remarks. There is ‘GENERAL’ and there is ‘General’.

I proposed converting all ‘General’-s to ‘GENERAL’ –s and removing the little General, but I’d like to be certain that a significant majority agrees.

Update to the SiteManager Material Sourcing Letter

SiteManager Material Sourcing Letter

Two items have changed recently with the SiteManager sourcing letter.

1.    The materials now include CST Structural materials. Previously the Structural branch forwarded their own ‘structural material only’ sourcing letter to the contractor. Now these materials will be included with the SiteManager sourcing letter and no second sourcing letter from the Structural branch will be sent. The Structural branch requests that you send them a copy of the contractor’s returned sourcing letter. Expect a follow-up email from Jana Buck with instructions.

2.    The contractor now has an option to choose a material producer from a pick list when available. The material producers listed are those with current* effective periods for the selected material. They are primarily QM material producers. Contractors may still type the name of the producer when either none is listed or the desired producer is not available in the list.

*Date when the report is generated
